THE Trust that runs schools in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Louth areas has announced the changes to the start of the new term from next week.

Tollbar Multi Academy Trust is preparing to welcome back some students next week, but only those from key worker families and vulnerable students.

These have to be booked. Primary schools will start next week, as planned.

Hundreds of students from the Tetney and Holton-le-Clay areas - which are in the Tier 4 zone - travel to Tollbar Academy, which is in Tier 3. There are also a large number of students in the Tier 3 Grimsby area who travel for education at Grammar Schools in Louth and Caistor, which are both in Tier 4. A spokeswoman for the Trust which runs Cleethorpes Academy, Tollbar Academy, North Somercotes and the Louth Academies said: “Following the latest government announcement the following changes will be made for the start of the new term:

No students to return on January 4 except vulnerable and key worker children (if already booked) Year 11 and 13 to receive lessons remotely for first week (January 4 to January 8)

Year 11 and 13 to attend the Academy from Monday 11 January 2021 All students to attend from January, 18, 2021

Tier 4 does not forbid travel for students to go to school.”

The Government announced the exemptions to Tier 4 rules which permits students to travel to education.

The Department for Education stated: “You can leave home for education related to the formal curriculum or training, registered childcare, under-18 sport and physical activity, and supervised activities for chil

dren that are necessary to allow parents/carers to work, seek work, or undertake education or training. “Parents can still take their children to school, and people can continue existing arrangements for contact between parents and children where they live apart. This includes childcare bubbles.” Education is one of very few reasons you can travel between different tiers, from both a higher tier to a lower one and a lower one to a higher one.

The dates apply to all of Tollbar MAT’s four secondary schools.
