GRIMSBY hospital has already welcomed its first New Year’s Day Baby for 2021. Piper-Patricia HowardEvans was born at the Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital at 12.31am and weighing exactly 7lbs. Mum, Jessica Howard, 26, and Dad, Alex Evans, 34, welcomed Piper to the world shortly after the New Year’s Eve fireworks, and are getting prepared to head home on Friday afternoon. It’s not just mum and dad that are excited for Piper to return home, however, with her new brothers, Ethan, 12, Harvey, 9, and Toby, 1, along with sister, Ivy, 5, also looking forward to meeting her.
Dad, Alex, said: “Piper was the first New Year’s baby born in 2021. The labour went really well, thankfully. I couldn’t be there to start with, but once she was in labour I was allowed to head down to the hospital. “We only found out her sex when she was born, we decided to keep it a secret, and it was a nice surprise to have a girl.
“All of her siblings are excited to meet her, we are hoping to get discharged sometime this afternoon but we don’t know exactly when yet.
“She was originally due on January 6, so she is a little bit early. Jessica’s mum has been running around eveve rywhere buying baby stuff for her!
“It’s such a great way to start the year. Hopefully it’s a sign of good things to come in 2021. “She is named Patricia after my mum, who sadly passed away of bowel cancer last year. She would have been really excited to meet her.
“We would like to thank all the staff on the Honeysuckle ward for their amazing hard work and dedication throughout.” throughout.
