Helping people stay active with online classes
SWIMMING POOLS, GYMS AND LEISURE CENTRES ARE CLOSED IN LOCKDOWN BUT CLASSES AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET
LEISURE centre managers have called on people to banish lockdown blues and stay active with online classes. The doors to Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham leisure centres and swimming pools have closed like others across the country due to the national lockdown in place until the middle of February.
Lincs Inspire, which operates the centres, along with Magna Vitae which runs Louth’s Meridian Leisure Centre said people can still keep active by logging on to online classes led by fitness trainers.
The latest restrictions permit daily exercise, but only in residents’ local areas.
When East Lindsey and the rest of Lincolnshire went into Tier 4 and forced the closure of Louth’s leisure centre and swimming pool, residents were urged not to travel to use facilities in North East Lincolnshire.
But the latest announcement from the Prime Minister p placed restrictions on the whole of England leading to the temporary closure of indoor pools and leisure centres. A spokeswoman for Lincs Inspire, said: “Once again we find our doors temporarily closed whilst the country works together to overcome the virus.
“We are sorry that we are unable to be there for you at the start of this New Year, but we will be ready and waiting as soon as it is safe to reopen and welcome you back once again.
“In the meantime, we urge you to find a way to stay focused on your fitness for your physical and mental wellbeing.
“We have online classes to take part in from the comfort of your own home. These are available on our App and website either live or via catch up. More classes will be added to the programme, so please keep checking back for an exciting programme of fitness brought to you by our very own instructors.”
She added: “May we take this opportunity to thank you all members and customers for their ongoing support.
