‘We’re here to help you’

-

GRIMSBY’S very own Covid Angels have been sharing messages of support.

Brothers James Burnett, 12, Robbie, 7, and Oscar, 4, have shared their own “political broadcast” on Facebook.

Reiterating the message “It’s OK to not be OK”, the Burnett brothers have urged people to get in touch if they need a helping hand over the next few weeks as people again adjust to life in lockdown.

Following the announcement of the third lockdown, the Burnett brothers took to their Facebook page – Covid Angels – Grimsby and Cleethorpes – to share messages of support. James said: “This is a political broadcast from the Covid Angels party. I am Prime Minister James. As you have all seen recent news from Boris – lockdown 3 has started.

“This, again, is a very worrying time for everyone. It’s OK not to be OK. Whilst you may feel anxious or nervous or even have thoughts on how will you cope – remember there is always someone to help you.

“You may not think it but we survived the lockdown 1 and 2 and together we will survive lockdown number 3.”

James has been encouraging people who may need a helping hand through the third lockdown to get in touch.

He continued: “From me, if you need shopping collecting or a chat – I’m here to help you. “If you want to register to help and again pull the community together then please message Blue Lights Brigade.

“Also please could you add as many people as you can to our Facebook group. We are all in

this together. Stay in, save lives, protect the NHS.”

Young James has been helping people in Grimsby and Cleethorpes since the country first went into lockdown in March.

Since then, he has been donating food, clothes, and lending a listening ear to people who simply want to speak through their struggles.

His dad, Paul Burnett, said: “James has been out feeding the homeless people on Christmas Day with Glens Homeless Helpers.

“He did some food, clothes, bedding collections for We Are One Foundation.” Speaking about James’ “political broadcast”, Paul added: “It was something James and I discussed when Boris was on and something to make his Facebook group smile because everyone needs something to make them smile. “The group is still active at about 7,000 members and we are again now pushing to see if people need help or want to volunteer.

“We just want to be there for people. If it’s one or 1,000 people, it is a success.”
