THE SERPENT

A SERIES about a serial killer bumping off hippie travellers in the 1970s may not sound like the cheeriest of new year viewing but we are hooked on the Beeb’s new drama. Dunkirk’s Billy Howle is fantastic in it, while Victoria star Jenna Coleman, right, is quite mesmerising.

JOE WICKS

THE BODY Coach this week announced that his PE with Joe exercise classes will be making a return as the UK enters another national lockdown. Taking to Instagram, Joe said he was delighted to be bringing back the classes that kept the nation motivated during the first lockdown last March.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

IF YOURS are still up, worry not. The National Trust argues we don’t have to ditch the tinsel by Twelfth Night, we should actually celebrate Yuletide up until the Feast of Candlemas on February 2.

ELECTRIC CARS

SALES of electric cars hit almost 108,000 last year – 61% higher than expected. It was also a huge rise on the 38,000 sold in 2019. Sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were up 91.2% to 66,877 last year.

ZARA HOLLAND

THE Love Island star avoided a jail term, but was this week fined £4,417 for breaching quarantine rules in Barbados. The 25-yearold pleaded guilty to trying to flee the country with her boyfriend Elliot Love, who had tested positive for coronavirus.

PAPERCHASE

THE 50-year-old stationery chain, which has 127 stores and 46 concessions in the UK, is on the brink of closure, putting more than 1,500 jobs at risk.

It has filed a notice to appoint administrators as it scrambles to secure its future.

PANIC BUYING

THERE were reports this week of supermarket shelves being stripped bare yet again as the UK settles into its third full lockdown. Have we not learned anything from the previous two? Pasta, tinned tomatoes and toilet roll will not run out. Well, not if shoppers don’t act like selfish idiots anyway.

THE GRAMMYS

THE glittering music awards ceremony had been due to take place at the end of this month but has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns, as cases rise in California. The event is now scheduled to take place on March 14.
