Infection rate is England’s lowest
THE number of new coronavirus cases in northern Lincolnshire has continued its week-on-week improvement as the region remains the best in England for rates of infection.
Across northern Lincolnshire there were 67 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24-hour period, as of yesterday, which is a slight rise on Monday’s total of 45.
Compared to the same time last week, the number of new cases is down from 78 and in the week prior to that at the end of December we recorded 80.
Of the 67 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in the latest daily update there were 32 in north-East Lincolnshire meaning the region has now seen 6,514 cases during the pandemic.
In north Lincolnshire there were 35 cases of the virus reported meaning the area has now recorded 6,709 since the beginning of the pandemic. In north-East Lincolnshire the latest nHS data gives the region a rolling seven-day infection rate of 152.9 cases per 100,000 people which is a 13 per cent fall on the previous seven-day interval. In north Lincolnshire the rate has shown a more dramatic improvement and stands at 166.6 cases per 100,000 people and represents a 32 per cent reduction on the previous seven-day interval. The reductions mean that north-East Lincolnshire remains the area with the best rate in the country and north Lincolnshire has the second best, some way ahead of Devon which has a current rate of 206.9 (a 12 per cent increase).
At a national level the UK yesterday recorded 1,243 daily Covid deaths which is the second highest daily total since the pandemic began In terms of cases there were 45,533 new confirmed cases of coronavirus which roughly continues the downward trend from a peak recorded last Friday.
It comes as the deaths of a further six coronavirus patients in northern Lincolnshire were reported by the nHS.
