Seven firearms seized and man arrested in raid by armed police
RESIDENTS DESCRIBE ‘BIG SCENE’ DURING OPERATION ON PASTURE STREET
A 21-year-old man has been arrested after seven firearms were discovered during a raid by armed police. Drugs including cannabis and suspected pills were also seized after police descended on a Pasture Street flat on Sunday, February 21. Large numbers of officers and two police dog units were involved in the Operation Galaxy raid. Witnesses nearby said the street was packed with vehicles, with more forced to park on neighbouring roads.
The 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs and possession of firearms, and has now been released as the investigation continues.
The raid took place at around 12pm on Sunday.
A man who was at Pasture Street at the time said: “There was a big scene, there were lots of cars including an Armed Response Vehicle and two dog units.
“There were so many vehicles some had to park on the next street. “They went around to a flat at the rear of one of the houses and didn’t hang around long once a man had been arrested.
“Police told us that it was a drugs warrant. It seemed like a lot of armed officers for that.”
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Following a warrant at a property on Pasture Road in Grimsby, a 21-yearold man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs and possession of firearms by our OpGalaxy and specialist teams.
“A total of seven firearms were seized from the property as well as a quantity of cannabis and suspected pills. “The man has been released under investigation whilst we continue our enquiries.”
