Coronavirus cases are slowly dropping in northern Lincolnshire as the area prepares for lockdown easing. In the daily coronavirus update by the government, there were 40 new cases across the region.

North Lincolnshire had an increase of 19, bringing their total to 7,924 since March. This is a promising sign for the region, with case numbers down from the 66 recorded on Monday, and showing North East Lincolnshire with similar numbers to North Lincolnshire, who have seen a steady reduction in new cases. North East Lincolnshire’s coronavirus case rate, which is a 7-day rolling average, is still high at the moment, currently standing at 132.9 cases per 100,000 population.

This is high compared to the majority of upper tier local authorities in England, with the area having the 93rd best coronavirus case rate. North Lincolnshire currently has a rate of 88.8 cases per 100,000 population, making them the 53rd best upper tier local authority in England. The current death total for the area is 416, with only 19 in February so far.

There is still pressure on NHS hospitals in the area, however, with 69 patients being treated for Covid-19 - 39 at Grimsby and 30 at Scunthorpe

Of these patients, there are three currently in the ICU, two in Grimsby and one in Scunthorpe.
