More cases identified
FIFTY new cases of coronavirus have been reported in northern Lincolnshire in the past 24 hours.
North East Lincolnshire had an additional 27 new cases on Saturday, taking its total since the pan-demic began a year ago to 7,662. North Lincolnshire has gone over the landmark figure to 8,012 of cases in the year of the pandem-ic with 23 added in the past 24 hours.
While in neighbouring East Lindsey, which includes Tetney and Louth, just 10 new cases through-out the whole of the district have been reported.
Although the trend has been downward, health bosses continue to remind people to maintain social distance and personal hygiene to help prevent the spread of the virus.
But it is the phenomenally successful vaccination programme in northern Lincolnshire which has given rise to the hope of combating the deadly disease. There were more than 46,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine provided to the population of North East Lincolnshire.
More than 90 per cent of people over the age of 70 years and older care home residents have re-ceived at least one dose of the vaccine and substantial progress is being made with the clinically extremely vulnerable and the over 60s, according to public health chiefs.
The latest figures for the area showed the spate of new cases is predominantly among the work-ing age population.
Health chiefs said an outbreak at a factory, whose location was not disclosed, was the cause of a spike in new cases in the borough.
