WHAT an inspiring article it was to read in your paper about how delighted the teachers and pupils are to finally be returning to school. As a parent of school-age youngsters myself I have seen firsthand the heartache it has caused them not being allowed to see their friends.

I know as kids ourselves we all moaned about school and never listened to our parents who told us ‘these are the best days of your life’. Of course, now you’re older, you realise how precious those carefree days were and how important they were in shaping you on the road to adulthood.

Never underestim­ate how important mixing with others is. We are all human and are designed to be with people, not stuck behind a screen working alone all day.

WEEks after walking away from the proposed green jet fuel plant on the south Humber Bank, oil major shell has unveiled its own plans in Germany.

The company is to produce from its Rhineland Refinery, with the plan to be up and running ahead of 2026. shell had been a backer alongside British Airways for the consented Velocys plant at stallingbo­rough. Altalto Immingham, as it is known, would be a £350 million investment and is seen as a flagship element of the local authority’s opening up of the employment zone between the two ports. Veloxys, an Oxford University spin-off, is finalising technology and raising funds, working with government to get policy framework right as part of the ‘Jet Zero’ ambitions - a pillar of the green recovery.
