THE funeral details for a dad-ofthree from Caistor have been announced.

David Mannion, 41, was tragically found dead by Lincolnshire Police on Saturday, February 13.

He had been reported missing just two days earlier.

Tributes have been made by his loving family and friends, who have been devastated by his untimely passing.

David was captain of Caistor Running Club and one of its founding members, Chris Robey, has described him as a “kind, compassionate family man”.

Chris told Lincolnshire Live: “David will be very sadly missed by all his friends in the Caistor community and at Caistor Running Club. “We have lost a great man, friend and captain.”

The service will take place at Gainsborough Lea Fields Crematorium on Thursday, March 11, at 11.30am.

However, numbers are strictly limited due to coronavirus restrictions.

Caistor Running Club plans to stream the service to share with people in their members-only Facebook page. David’s family has also given their blessing to the club to do something to raise money for charities close to his heart rather than donating cash for a floral tribute, reports Lincolnshire Live.

Chris said planning for what the club will do is still underway.

A fundraising page has been set up to support this and more than £300 has already been pledged. The page reads: “Instead of collecting donations for a floral tribute to David at his funeral, the family has suggested that CRC raise money for one charity that was close to David’s heart and another charity that helps people in times of great need.

“As men’s captain of Caistor Running Club, David was compassionate and very supportive to all club members. Whilst himself an accomplished runner, he would always support members of all standards, often jogging at the back to make sure everyone got home safely. If you were in a race many miles away, the most likely person to turn up in support would be David, even during a time when he himself was injured. “His thoughtful suggestion recently led to the club organising a charity Christmas raffle to benefit the elderly and isolated of Caistor. “David will be very sadly missed by all his friends in the Caistor community and at Caistor Running Club. We have lost a great man, friend and captain.”
