It would be refreshing to find an employer that cared

Visitors to our Facebook page have had their say on our story about our hospital trust issuing 58 parking court orders to staff, patients and visitors

-

■ Steve Stiffell: Absolutely disgusting to fine staff who are working tirelessly through this pandemic. The owners of this car park should be ashamed.

■ Karen Lesley Plaskitt: Staff shouldn’t even have to pay. It’s disgusting. In fact, no one should have to pay to visit poorly loved ones unless the money is going straight to the NHS.

■ Ian Eccles: The hospital where I work have suspended all parking charges and fines during the pandemic. Also, as the university is closed it means we are not inundated with students looking for cheap parking.

■ Ian Wright: They have plenty of land why don’t they build a multi -story car park for the staff and issue them with a pass so they can park for free?

■ Hunter Thompson: Park responsibly, obey the rules, avoid a fine. It’s really not that difficult to grasp and if it is then staff need to be educated, and probably shouldn’t be driving in the first place.

■ Lorraine Kemp: Staff should not have to pay, they are doing a brilliant job so give them a break.

■ Charlie Twidale: About time they gave staff free parking permits.

■ Shelby Quozie: Irrespective of whether staff should pay or not, if most do pay for parking (including members of the public) why should some get away with not paying and not be fined?

■ Ian Reynolds: Disgusting, all car parks at hospitals should be taken off the private sector and given to the hospital, and ALL money taken should be the hospitals. Staff can park for free, and I for one would have no problem paying knowing where the money was going, to help the NHS

■ Sam Sessions: There’s no loyalty to staff no matter what you do. I unfortunately found this, too. No matter what they tell you, employers really don’t care. It would be really refreshing to find an employer that did.

■ Tracy Foden: Disgusting. Give your heads a wobble. These people save lives every day. Let’s hope the people who run the car park don’t need their help one day.

■ Sophie Miles: There are two places you should not have to pay for parking, one is a hospital and the other is at university.

■ James Richard: No one should have to pay to park at a hospital.
