WETHERSPOONS TO REOPEN NEXT MONTH

PUBS WITH BEER GARDENS OR OUTDOOR SEATING AREAS WILL BE ALLOWED TO WELCOME BACK CUSTOMERS FROM APRIL 12

PUB chain JD Wetherspoons has revealed which of its bars are set to reopen on April 12.

The chain has announced which of its 394 pubs – less than half of its overall branches – will reopen first as lockdown restrictions ease. Any pubs with beer gardens or outdoor seating areas will be allowed to welcome back customers from that date.

They will be allowed to open 9am to 9pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 9am to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

JD Wetherspoons has released a list of which pubs will reopen on that date and which will have to wait – and all of northern Lincolnshire’s branches have made it. The Yarborough Hotel in Grimsby, the Coliseum Picture Theatre in Cleethorpes, the

Blue Bell in Scunthorpe, and the White Horse in Brigg are all on the list of pubs to reopen. The remaining venues will have to wait until the government gives the go-ahead for people to get food and drink inside again.

The reopened pubs will serve a slightly reduced menu, with food available from 9am to 8pm, seven days a week. Customers will be encouraged to order and pay through the Wetherspoon app, and staff will be able to take orders and payment at the table. However, hungry customers won’t be able to make advance bookings unlike some pubs and restaurants.

Wetherspoons chief executive John Hutson said: “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back to our pubs.” Outdoor food and drink will hopefully resume in English pubs on April 12 under the lockdown roadmap, but the government may push it back if thinks it is too soon. Lincoln’s Square Sail is amongst the unlucky pubs which will need to wait at least another month – until May 17 - to welcome back customers.

Also set to reopen on April 12 are non-essential shops, hairdressers and public buildings. Outdoor settings like takeaways, beer gardens, zoos and theme parks, can also reopen, along with indoor leisure like swimming pools and gyms

We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back to our pubs Wetherspoons chief executive John
