MAN FINED AND ORDERED TO PAY COSTS TOTALLING OVER £2,000
A TAKEAWAY owner has been banned from serving after using unclean equipment.
Environmental health officers visited Bodrum takeaway in Aswell Street, Louth and discovered a range of breaches of hygiene regulations. The owner of the takeaway was fined and ordered to pay costs totalling over £2,000.
Ibrahim Cinalp was banned from managing a food business after admitting to a number of food hygiene offences at court.
Officers visited Bodrum A S Ltd in March last year.
Mr Cinalp pleaded guilty to six food hygiene offences identified during a routine food hygiene inspection by an Environmental Health Officer from East Lindsey District Council on March 16 last year.
The offences included failing to maintain fixtures, fittings, and equipment in a clean condition and failure to keep high-risk foods under effective temperature control.
He had exposed food to a risk of contamination and failed to implement an effective procedure to manage food safety.
The owner also failed to comply with a Hygiene Improvement Notice served following the Environmental Health Officer’s inspection. Following a hearing at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 8, where Mr Cinalp admitted to the offences, he was fined £200 and in addition awarded costs of £1,800 and a victim surcharge of £32, bringing the total to £2,032.
Mr Cinalp was also issued with a Prohibition Order which prevents him from managing a food takeaway or food retail business in the future. ELDC portfolio holder for operational services, Councillor Martin Foster, said: “Whilst our Environmental Health team continue to provide advice and information to food businesses during these difficult and unprecedented times, the council will not tolerate persistent offenders who put their customers’ health at risk by failing to comply with food safety regulations.”
