CovidC patient dies and 57 test positive

A FURTHER 57 people have n now tested positive for Covid-19 a across northern Lincolnshi­re. In the daily coronaviru­s u update published by the G Government, it confirmed that t there were 26 new cases in N North East Lincolnshi­re, b bringing the overall cases to 8 8,260 since the pandemic b began.

In North Lincolnshi­re, there w were 31 new cases, bringing t ther overall case number to 8 8,688 since the start of the p pandemic.

This is a big decrease in daily c cases for North Lincolnshi­re, w who have had 50 new cases on S Saturday and 42 new cases on F Friday.

However, North Lincolnshi­re still has one of the highest coronaviru­s case rates in the country - with a rate of 158.5 cases per 100,000 population. This makes the area the second highest rate for upper tier local authoritie­s in England, only behind Barnsley. North East Lincolnshi­re has a case rate of 102.2 cases per 100,000 population - which puts them in 14th place between Tameside and Kirklees.

In East Lindsey, there were 16 new cases, bringing their overall total to 6,180.

The coronaviru­s case rate currently stands at 87.5 cases per 100,000 population.

Sadly, one coronaviru­s patient being treated at a hospital in northern Lincolnshi­re has died - the first local hospital death since March 14.

This brings the overall total for hospital deaths in hospitals run by the Northern Lincolnshi­re and Goole NHS Foundation Trust to 444.

As of Friday morning, there were 35 patients being treated in the region’s hospitals – 12 at Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital and almost double that at Scunthorpe General Hospital, with 23. Of these, three were in the ICU – one at Grimsby and two at Scunthorpe.
