Devastated Coach House staff pay tribute to colleague

-

A MAN who died after collapsing in Sea View Street in Cleethorpes was the popular bar manager at the Coach House in Humberston. Ian Meek’s devastated colleagues have paid tribute to him after announcing his sad death on social media.

Emergency services were called after he collapsed in the street at about 1.15am yesterday. He later died in hospital. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and it is thought Ian died of natural causes.

Just hours earlier 21-year-old Adam Barber died after a separate, unconnected, incident in the resort.

In a social media post that has been shared and commented on hundreds of times, The Coach House paid tribute to their bar manager and friend saying: “It is with unbelievable sadness we let you know of the passing of our great friend and manager Ian ‘Elvis’ Meek.

“Words cannot say how we all feel at this time. Not just a work colleague but a friend to everyone.

“He will be sadly missed by all who ever knew him.

“Elvis may have left the building, but our friend will never be forgotten, till the next time pal, David, Dawn and the team.” Hundreds of people have commented on the post, paying their own tribute to Ian.

One comment reads: “This is so sad. Unbelievable. No age whatsoever and a great guy to talk to. My condolences and sympathies to his family. RIP Ian.”

Others echoed similar sentiments saying “such very sad news, what a great man and awesome character. Ian will be massively missed, thoughts are with his family and friends, rest in peace my friend.”

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “At 1.15am on Tuesday, April 13, we received a call regarding the concern for safety of a man who had collapsed on Sea View Street in Cleethorpes.

“Emergency services attended and took the man to hospital for treatment. Sadly the man passed away in hospital a short time later. His family have been informed and are being supported by specifically trained officers. Our sympathies are with his family and friends at this sad time.

“The circumstances of his death are not thought to be suspicious and enquiries will continue to establish the cause of his passing.

Earlier in the evening, emergency services had been called to Grant Street where Adam had tragically fallen on his way home and injured his head. He too later died in hospital.
