BRIGG’S CLS Civil Engineering is bringing forward a hat-trick of developments in its home town. Land owned on Atherton Way, highly visible from the M180, is the location for a twophased business-focused addition, with a light industrial terrace and high spec office suite both recently granted planning consent. In Bridge Street it is also behind a retirement apartment development, also given the go-ahead. Joanna Betts, commercial manager at the family business, said: “With planning permission in place on all three schemes we’ve got quite a lot going on.

“We have just started the marketing campaign and we are looking to develop the small industrial units first - there are virtually none available on the market at the moment, and we are quite confident we will see the demand when we start construction.

“The office building is something we’re not going to do immediately, we’re assessing demand that the moment. One thing we have in mind is serviced offices, because we appreciate not everyone wants to work in a spare room at home. Having an option for the town may be the right way at looking at that.”

Both are on a 1.37 acre plot owned by CLS, alongside the Class agricultural machinery branch, opposite the school.

With proposals to extend Atherton Way it is seen as a strategic move, with a cafe included in the two-storey office plan.

“We are very flexible at the moment, it could be a whole floor taken or services. There’s quite a big workforce in the nrea now, so we think a small cafe could do well.”

In the centre of town, the 20-unit over 55s proposal forms the balance of the former Falcon Cycles site, with the remainder being developed by fellow North Lincolnshire firm Keigar Homes.
