Clee aim to get back on right track

-

FOLLOWING last weekend’s complete washout, Cleethorpes Cricket Club will be hoping for better weather and a return to form tomorrow.

They travel to Warmsworth, who were promoted alongside Barnsley in 2019, and the Meggies will be keen to avoid a repeat of the reversal they suffered at the hands of the Tykes just two weeks ago. Warmsworth were given a reality check on their debut in the Championship Division. They were beaten by the current league leaders, Whiston Parish Church, by the huge margin of 204 runs. However, they bounced back the following week with a victory over Oughtibridge, with skipper Lewis Brown picking up his 10th wicket of the season.

Their batting let them down when they travelled to Aston Hall, but they fought back to reduce their opponents to 33-5 before finally going down to a four-wicket defeat.

The Meggies must be wary of the unknown as they make their first visit to the Doncaster-area club, who will be keen to register a second victory.

Cleethorpes captain Bill Kirby has full availability, which enables him to field an unchanged side to that chosen for last week’s cancelled game.

Holton-le-Clay visit Chichester Road tomorrow for a Lincs League game against the Meggies 2nd XI in what will be the final weekend before the return of spectators is permitted. The Meggies second string, still searching for their first win of the season, take the field with the following team: E Carlton, S Baker, G Carlton, P Ridley, A Severn, J Holmes, P Henderson, P Sunley, J Osmond, J Stocks, J Sands.
