Colin Smale: Oh no... I am so sad to hear this. He was a genuinely nice chap and a good example of a caring human being.

Andrea McAndrew: Genuinely upset to hear this sad news. I was part of his team winning that first computer at Clee Grammar. An amazing teacher who had a massive influence on my life. So proud to have been one of your pupils. I cannot thank you enough, Mr Solomon. Rest in peace, sir x Sophie Elizabeth Hollingsworth: So sad to hear about this. He was such a big influence when I was a kid in GCDYO. Then as an adult I used to serve him each week in the newsagents in New Waltham and we always had a chat about music and he’d ask about my family and stuff. Really wonderful man, he’ll be missed.

John Games: Leo was a remarkable man. He was so helpful in supporting my wife and I with the education of our sons and went more than the extra mile. It was a privilege to then be a near neighbour to Leo and Margaret. A wonderful multi-faceted man who was so faithful in his beliefs, contributed so much in education and the arts. Leo will be hugely missed. Shalom.

Sally Green: Leo was a legend, a true gentleman, a great musician and a friend. He will be dearly missed. RIP x

Sue Lang: So sad to see this news. He was a great inspiration to many youngsters with his music. Such a lovely man. RIP x

Robert Bradley: I remember him with great respect, the Leo Solomon trio, with Ted Symonds (string bass), Norman Bean (drums), a very skilled group of musicians. He guested with Grimsby Brass Band in the early Sixties, not forgetting the youth orchestra, a great all round musician, teacher and gentleman.

D Ale Shaw: RIP. He did so much for his community, music and religion. Engaged with local schools. Someone very special to our area. Jo Cunningham: He was a brilliant maths teacher. I hated maths and a previous teacher had left me with a fear of maths as if I didn’t get the answer I was made to sit at the back, but Mr Solomon had infinite patience and helped me a lot. He’ll be sadly missed x

Sue Heaton Hutson: So sad to hear this news. He was my music teacher at Technical School. He always had a smile as he welcomed you into his classroom and made music fun. I can remember nervously trying out for the choir. Even to this day I can remember how patient and kind he was.

A true sign of a wonderful person and teacher is how he always make you feel good about yourself – those feelings have stayed with me for a lifetime.

Thank you, Mr Solomon, for sharing your love and gift of music, you touched my heart and inspired me to love music too.

With deepest sympathy to the family. You will be greatly missed. Dominic Robinson: A truly genuine and kind man! Thinking back at the memories of meeting Leo and his wife Margaret when Leo was the mayor and showing me around the town hall. RIP Leo. Helen Jenkins-Knight: Saddened to hear of Leo’s passing. He was an inspirational conductor and I have fond memories of playing in the swing band. Thank you for the music Leo.
