How they rated in solid away display
HARRY Clifton netted a late winner for Grimsby Town to extend their winning run to three National League matches as they beat Woking 1-0.
Here’s how we rated each player’s performance...
James McKeown: Commanded his area very well from set-pieces against a very physical Woking side. A strong performance for his 500th in Town colours -7
Ryan Sears: His best performance for Town. Looked more confident in possession and produced one defence-splitting pass to release Sousa in the first half. He’s starting to grow into the Mariners’ shirt -7
Luke Waterfall: Dealt with the physical threat of Effiong and Campbell manfully - 7
Ryley Towler: Produced a fantastic goalsaving block at 0-0 after Inih Effiong had gone around McKeown -7
Adam Crookes: Defended well and always puts in a solid performance. One of the unsung heroes of this side -7
Alex Hunt: Tried to get Town playing in midfield and showed good composure in possession -7
Ben Fox: After playing so well against
Altrincham, Fox’s radar wasn’t quite right. A few loose passes and struggled to find his feet in the game. Improve in the second half and could’ve scored with a left-footed drive which was well saved -6
Erico Sousa: Produced Town’s best moment of the first half as he fizzed in a lovely delivery which Taylor was inches away from finishing -7
John McAtee: Struggled to find his rhythm in the game with limited space between midfield and defence. Still looked lively when in possession and worked as hard as ever -6
Harry Clifton: Industrious as ever. Should have given Town the lead with a back-post chance in the first half but he couldn’t convert. Composed finish to put Town ahead at the death -7
Ryan Taylor: Wasn’t as involved in the game as he would have perhaps liked. Nice link-up play when it went into him but the three Woking centre-backs handled him well -6
Substitutes
Lennel John-Lewis (Taylor, 72): Struggled to make a real impact after coming on from the bench -6
Max Wright (Hunt, 85)
