MOTORISTS will face disruption with a number of road closures planned from October half term.

A series of improvement works will be carried out at the roundabout of Chelmsford Avenue, Cambridge Road and Westward Ho, taking place until November 13.

While some are overnight closures, many will affect road users as they are being carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

However, other repairs will be taking place over a number of days meaning the road will be inaccessible to motorists for a longer period of time.

The repairs will include various procedures such as resurfacing of the carriageway and improving the drainage. North East Lincolnshire Council and regeneration partner, EQUANS, are intending on using the road closure to make a number of improvements and alterations to the junction.

They will be carrying out a range of improvements including carriageway resurfacing, the upgrade and replacement of traffic signs and illuminated boards, drainage improvements and additional minor infrastructure improvements.

Work will be carried out from Monday, October 25 and continue until Saturday, November 13 with a mix of overnight, daily and full closures.

The project is split into five phases with the first phase taking place from October 25 to 28.

This will see the arm between Chelmsford Avenue and 6 Cambridge Road closed with temporary traffic lights between 9.30am and 3.30pm on the remaining three arms.

Phase two will see parts of Westward Ho closed to traffic from Friday, October 29 to Tuesday, November 2, but the road will remain open over the weekend for those in the area.

The next part of the scheme will see parts of Cambridge road and Chelmsford Avenue closed again from November 3 to 4, with the following closures seeing part of Chelmsford Avenue closed for over five days from Friday, November 5 to Wednesday, November 10.

The final phase will take place in the form of an overnight closure for the 11, 12 and 13 November. There will be full road closures from 7pm to 6am while resurfacing and road marking works are carried out.

Residents in these areas will also be restricted from using the road as means of access and street parking will be suspended on all roads dependent on the work being carried out.
