Who shone in comprehensive win?

-

GRIMSBY Town avoided a potential FA Cup banana skin as they stormed to a 5-0 win over Bromsgrove Sporting at the Victoria Ground.

Here is how we rated the players’ performances.

Max Crocombe: Had very little to do but controlled his area well. Pulled off a smart save to deny Will Shorrock from range - 6

Ryan Sears: Solid and dependable. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod at right-back against Yeovil - 7

Shaun Pearson: Dealt with the threat of Connor Taylor will but, in truth, was unduly troubled. An easy afternoon - 7

David Longe-King: Netted Town’s second with a free header at the back post - 7

Seb Revan: Fired Town ahead with a great finish from inside the area after smart work from Bapaga. Then added an impressive second as he cut inside from the left to curl into the bottom corner and even assisted Longe-King’s header - 9 (Star man)

Giles Coke: A composed display from the Mariners’ captain, controlling possession from deep - 7

Ben Fox: Busy and hard-working as always. Will have tougher afternoons - 7

Erico Sousa: Almost got chopped in half in the first half by left-back Jake Boomer. Quick footwork and change of speed was too much for the opposition defence - 8

Will Bapaga: Played in an attacking midfield role, the Coventry City loanee had the freedom of the pitch to create. Drifting right and left, Bromsgrove couldn’t pick him up. Two good assists for Revan’s goals and then grabbed one for himself at the end - 9

Harry Clifton: You always know what you’ll get from Clifton. Hard-working, quick and a constant threat in-behind. Wrapped in cotton wool at half-time - 7

Lenell John-Lewis: Wasted an early chance to put Town ahead as he miscued Bapaga’s cutback. Then flattered to deceive when put through on goal with two efforts that were comfortably saved by Onodi. Found the net from the spot in the final 10 minutes. Then missed one in the last minute as he tried to go down the middle again - 7

Substitutes

Evan Khouri (Clifton, 45): The firstyear pro had some nice touches but wasn’t too heavily involved - 6

Max Wright (Sousa, 59): Looked lively down the right-hand side and will certainly be an asset when fully fit - 7

Edwin Essel (Ben Fox, 74) - N/A
