A MYSTERIOUS creature has been spotted prowling in northern Lincolnshire over the past few weeks.

The animal, said to be “3ft tall with a cat-like appearance” was spotted along Pasture Road North, in Barton-upon-Humber, last Thursday morning.

There has also been another sighting of a “cat-like” animal on Flixborough industrial estate in Scunthorpe around two weeks ago.

And a man who saw it said he is “puzzled” as anyone would be by catching a glimpse of this beast.

Duncan McNaught, 60, who lives in Barton-upon-Humber, said: “I’ve been baffled by these large cat sightings because you don’t get too many of them in our area.

“I just want to know if anyone out there has seen similar incidents to me. And I’d also like to know how they’ve managed to get here in the first place.”

Duncan’s first sighting was over two weeks ago as he was driving home from work at 1.15am.

The truck driver said: “I was just so tired and wanted to go back to bed after working a 14-hour shift.

“So I was driving home back to Barton-upon-Humber along the Flixborough industrial estate.

“Then all of a sudden, there was this animal that came across a grassy knoll on the left.

“I stopped immediately to avoid hitting it. My initial thoughts were that this animal was larger than an Alsatian dog, but it had the head of a cat.”

But this certainly was no tabby cat, according to Duncan.

He said: “This wasn’t a domestic cat, it was a very large cat-like creature. It had the build of a leopard or a cheetah.

“It had mottled brown patches on its fur. It wasn’t a stocky animal, just very tall at around 3ft tall.

“I got out the vehicle to take a closer look at it. It was just looking at me for around a minute and then it headed off into the night. I couldn’t believe what I had just seen.”

After doing some research at home, Duncan feels he has some answers to his dilemma.

“I have the feeling it was a savannah cat but I couldn’t be 100 per cent sure.

“I was just thrilled by this and want to know if anyone else has seen similar sightings.

“Yes I was tired when I saw the animal, but I can guarantee that I wasn’t imagining things.

“I saw this creature with my two eyes,” Duncan said.

However, to Duncan’s amazement and surprise, he witnessed another sighting of a large animal with a catlike head in Barton-upon-Humber last Thursday.

He added: “It surely can’t be the same one?

“Again, I was totally shocked to see this animal which you can see in the video. It was just peacefully sitting in the field.

“Someone’s told me that they’ve also seen a black puma in Scunthorpe a few years ago.

“I’ve been completely startled by these sightings. I’m bewildered by them. It’s very strange for north Lincolnshire.”
