PEOPLE have been getting into the Halloween spirit with a spooky fitness session at Weelsby Woods in Grimsby.

The session, run by PT Evo BodyWeight Fitness, included weightlifting pumpkins, searching through a coffin full of body blood and a Time Warp dance at the end.

Heather Shaw, 32, and Dave Evans, 47, decided to start the tradition around three years ago as it’s Dave’s favourite celebration.

Normally, the group run sessions in the park every morning at 6.30am, running sessions that Dave describes as “Tough Mudder meets SAS Who Dares Wins”.

Heather said the clients love the Bootcamp Halloween Spectacular as it gives them something to look forward to.

She said: “This was our third Halloween fitness session. Normally we train at 6.30am, but to add to the spooky effect we decide to do this at night.

“It seems to be getting bigger and better every year we’ve done it. We make sure to give clients a spooky atmosphere as well as something to look forward to.

“The idea just popped into our heads one day, we love Halloween so we thought we’d give it a go.

“People were lifting pumpkins, taking part in a coffin relay and dancing to the Time Warp at the end of the session.

“We just think it’s a fun way for people to throw themselves into fitness and it’s something no one else round here does.

“People also come dressed up in scary costumes and there was even a trophy for the best dressed person there.

“It was so scary this year that some people said they weren’t coming.

“My favourite part of the display had to be the five foot coffin though as we had it specially made.

“There were also clowns and a

six foot spider in the park.”

Heather said she and Dave are now trying to get the business back to pre Covid levels. She explained: “We want people to get back into the business now restrictions have been lifted.”

Dave said the reason for all their efforts is because Halloween is his favourite time of the year. He explained: “I like the concept of Halloween, it’s very fun.

“I find Christmas is too commercialised if I’m honest, but Halloween is nothing like that.”
