Ten adorable dogs seeking

- By GEORGIE HUGHES newsdesk@grimsbytelegraph.co.uk @GrimsbyLive

THEY’RE all seeking a second chance at life after finding themselves in kennels.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue currently has 17 rescue dogs in their care, with two at their site in North Lincolnshire and another seven in South Lincolnshire.

Many of the dogs have found themselves in Jerry Green’s care due to no fault of their own – and just need somebody to give them the second chance they deserve.

The rescue centre has been rehoming dogs since 1961 - and TeamDogs has put together a profile of some of the dogs up for adoption.

But this isn’t the full list, so please go to the website to see the other dogs available and to find out more information.

WALTER

Age: 5 years 8 months

Gender: Male

Breed: German shepherd

Likes: Running around with friends, cuddles and teddy bears

Dislikes: Slippery surfaces and other dogs

Walter is described as a “big softie with a huge heart” which is all you could ever wish for in a dog. He

would be well suited to a large garden as he loves to run around after formerly being kept outside in a small shed. The poor dog has never lived in a home before, so new owners would need to be understanding and patient. Walter hasn’t been well socialised in the past, so he needs to be the only pet in a child-free household.

DONNIE

Age: 3 years 10 months Gender: Male

Breed: Lurcher

Likes: Walks with dog friends and wagging his tail

Dislikes: Cats and small animals

Donnie is said to have a very whippy tail, as he’s wagging away all day long. The lurcher is now looking for a home where he can snuggle up on the sofa with his new family. He gets on well with other dogs, so could potentially live with another pet. Donnie would need a garden with a high, secure fence and might need a refresh on his house training. He could also happily share a house with children over 16.

ANGEL

Age: Gender: Breed:

Likes: Treats and children 12 and above who are quiet and sensible Dislikes: Other dogs as she’s still a bit unsure of them

Angel is just like her name suggests, sweet, gentle and gorgeous. She may seem a little shy at first but will warm up to new faces after some time, especially if they have lots of treats. Her full, lovely personality will soon shine out, but until that happens she needs a patient owner

who will give her the time she needs to gain confidence. She’s made a lot of progress at the rescue, but is still a bit unsure of other dogs, so it would be best if she doesn’t live with them. But she could definitely go on walks with other dogs to get used to them.

TOBY

Age: 13 years 10 months

Gender: Male

Breed: American bulldog cross Likes: Playing with toys and snuggling in bed

Dislikes: Not much!

This old gentleman may be elderly but he still has so much to

give and lives life to the fullest.

He still likes to play and go on quiet strolls, but he’s also a very big fan of sleeping. Toby has a best friend at the rescue centre called Tigger who is also looking to be adopted, so if there is space in your home for both the two would make a perfect pair. Toby has a little arthritis in his legs so will need treatment.

TIGGER

Age: 13 years 10 months Gender: Male Breed: Mastiff cross

Likes: Bouncing around and getting cosy in bed

Dislikes: Having arthritis

Tigger is Toby’s best friend who is also looking for a retirement home. Despite his age he still has a lot of energy and loves to play with toys and go on walks, but his number one love is being in bed. Just like Toby, Tigger has some arthritis in his legs, so he has to take joint supplements, but it’s not too much of an issue. Could you give Toby and Tigger the quiet, loving home they deserve?

BELLA

Age: 8 months

Gender: Female

Breed: Mastiff cross

Likes: Enrichment games and lots of attention

Dislikes: Being left alone

This clever girl is looking for a home that has the time to continue her vital training and socialisation. Bella’s intelligence may surprise you, as she loves enrichment games and treats. The Mastiff cross is going to grow up into a big lady, so she’ll need a big garden to run around in and owners who have experience with large breeds. She would be fine to live with children aged 16 and over who are used to large, bouncy dogs. Bella would suit a home where she won’t be left much.

PADDY

Age: 7 years 8 months

Gender: Male

Breed: Patterdale terrier

Likes: Long walks in the country Dislikes: Loud noises

Paddy has been described as a “loving little lad” who loves to play with his toys and take nice strolls in the countryside. He gets a bit freaked out by loud or strange noises, so it would benefit him to live somewhere quiet and rural. It would be best prospective owners have a secure garden too, so Paddy could play off the lead and sunbathe.

DELLA

Age: 10 years 3 months

Gender: Female

Breed: Saluki cross

Likes: Chasing after balls, attention Dislikes: Small animals

Della enjoys having a run around and loves nothing more than playing chase with her balls. She can be a bit of a worrier, so a quieter home would suit her well. The Saluki cross can be left alone quite easily, as long as she has something interesting to occupy her. She would be able to live with children aged 16+ after a successful introduction, but she shouldn’t live with any small animals as she has a high prey drive.

MABEL

Age: 6 years 2 months

Gender: Female

Breed: Mastiff cross

Likes: Lots of strokes and cuddles Dislikes: Other dogs and scary things

The rescue centre describes Mabel as a “giant softie who loves nothing more than a cuddle”. She looks tough on the outside, but Mabel actually gets quite scared and worried about things, so it’s best

she is the only pet in her new home. The gentle giant also has plenty of love to give so you won’t need anyone else! Her new home would need a good sized garden with a secure 6ft fence due to her size. While she settles in Mabel should only have a few visitors at first so she can get used to her new family.

BAILEY

Age: 11 years 10 months

Gender: Male

Breed: Springer spaniel

Likes: Safe spaces and sofas to lounge on

Dislikes: Too much time alone and small children

This old boy is looking for a patient and understanding home, as he may take a while to get used to new people and experiences. He gets very nervous around new faces so he probably won’t show much affection straight away, but rest assured once you’ve got his trust you’ll be friends for life. For this reason Bailey will need visits to be taken at his own pace. He has some aches and pains so he doesn’t need much exercise, just a nice garden to plod around. Bailey would enjoy living with another older dog, as he finds he gains confidence when he has a doggy friend by his side.
