CHEEKY musical comedy Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is coming to Grimsby this weekend - bringing lots of laughs and brilliant tunes to audiences.

It’s been called a hilarious night out where you can join in throughout the show, making it the perfect night out for girls - and guys.

Legendary Nolan sister Maureen Nolan will be starring in the role of Karen on Sunday November 14 at Grimsby Auditorium.

She’ll be joined by TV Personality Stephanie Dooley from CBBC’s Creeped Out will share the role of Jocelyn, X-Factor Finalist Niki Evans takes on the role of Jackie and completing the lineup is Olivier Award Winner Leanne Jones in the role of Angie.

Star Maureen Nolan has an established and accomplished theatre career including the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone in the West End production of Blood Brothers.

Maureen said: “I am delighted to be joining this fabulous fun production and thank the producers of the show for their faith in me”.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - the brainchild of Grimsby-born theatre producer Lee Waddingham - takes a no-holdsbarred comedy romp through everything life throws at a modern-day woman.

The show features some of the biggest and most iconic of all pop anthems including 9 to 5, We Are Family, Get The Party Started, I’m In the Mood For Dancing and of course Cyndi Lauper’s classic Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Having worked with the shows writers Julie Coombe and John MacIsaac on hit comedy play Hormonal Housewives, Lee wanted to develop a brand-new comedy sketch show that also heavily featured some dance floor classics.

Lee said: “I absolutely love creating feel good theatre. I get so much joy from seeing a full theatre filled with laughter and everyone up on their feet at the end of the show having a good time, and let’s face it after the last 18 months we could all do with a little bit of fun in our lives”.

Waddingham has been a producer on some of the largest pantomimes staged in the UK in recent years, working on shows starring Cilla Black, Larry Lamb and Mickey Rooney.

Lee continued “I’m thrilled that we will be ending this first tour of Girls Just Want To Have Fun in my home town. It’s done exceptionally well all over the UK and I’m certain that all the ladies in Grimsby won’t let me down and prove that they do indeed just wanna have fun.”
