- By PETER CRAIG peter.craig@reachplc.com @GTpetercraig Grimsby Cleethorpes Cleethorpes

REMEMBRANCE parades and services to honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom will be held on Sunday.

Following the cancellation of services last year due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions, full scale events will be back on this year.

Wreaths were laid at war memorials but there were no parades or church services in November 2020. Remembrance Sunday always falls on the second Sunday of November, the closest Sunday to Armistice Day, when the National Service of Remembrance takes place at the Cenotaph in London’s Whitehall, at 11am.

The service is attended by senior members of the Royal Family, including the Queen, Government leaders, and features a march-past involving 10,000 veterans.

Honouring members of the Armed Forces who have fallen in the line of duty, similar tributes are also held on the day – this year it falls on Sunday, November 14 - around the country, at war monuments, in churches, in memorial gardens and other public spaces.

Remembrance Day, or Armistice Day, is marked at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month.
