Ten of the best cheap places to eat across our area

ACROSS Grimsby and Cleethorpe­s, there are a whole host of places to pop to get either breakfast, dinner or tea, but the question is, which is best value for money?

It depends on what you’re in the mood for, but there are a number of both quirky and traditiona­l places in our area that are perfect for quality food at a cheap price.

Some of the best places to venture to for this include Grimsby town centre and Cleethorpe­s promenade.

Read on to find out some of the best places to go for a little pay day treat.

10. The Arc café

The Arc is a brilliant place for your quick fix of a breakfast bun or something for dinner.

Situated on Abbey Road, Grimsby, it’s right in the heart of the town, meaning you’ll never be far away from it on your travels.

For me, nothing can top their build your own breakfast bun, but others might know them better for things like lunchtime paninis.

At £3.30 for a panini with two fillings and chips, you really can’t go wrong can you.

9. Tredici Wood Fired Pizzeria

Tredici, a very well known restaurant in our area, has sat at the top of many people’s rankings for pizza and generally a great night for a number of years now.

With a great atmosphere and great food, it really is a brilliant place to visit, especially if you don’t want to break the bank.

They specialise in authentic wood fired pizzas and even offer a gluten free base to accommodat­e for all customers.

However, if pizza isn’t your thing, they also have a brilliant range of pasta. So if you’re in the mood for an Italian, get yourself down to Abbeygate in Grimsby and visit Tredici.

8. The Little Teapot

Something now for those of you who aren’t looking for massive portions, but instead just fancy a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

The Little Teapot, in Laceby, is brilliant for that quiet catch up with a friend or for a pay day treat.

However, if you fancy getting in

It isn’t just about the cakes here either, with a full range of sandwiches and soups too, it’s the perfect place to warm yourself up this winter.

7. The Jug and Bottle

The first appearance of a classic pub on our list, The Jug and Bottle is a truly brilliant place to get decent food at an even more decent price.

Best known for its carvery, they offer a brilliant selection of meat and veg that you can be sure will fill you up after you’ve piled on the roast potatoes.

As well, the breakfast buffet is something that deserves a mention. With sausages, bacon, fried bread and hash browns up for f grabs, b i’ it’s a great place l to go if you’re an early riser.

To make things even better, at just £4.99 a person, it’s one of the biggest and cheapest breakfasts up for grabs in our area.

6. Browns café

If you’re looking for something in Cleethorpe­s then this might be the one for you.

Browns café on the North Promenade offers one of the most filling breakfasts you could ever imagine, it even comes with chips!

As well, the venue is dog friendly so if you’re out for a walk with your four-legged friend, they too can pop in whilst you have a fry up or fish and chips.

Right next to the arcades, this is a great place for a family day out with everything in close proximity, it’ll make your day that little bit easier.

5. Café Baraka

Another one in Cleethorpe­s, Café Baraka offers authentic West African food at a very reasonable price.

A little way off Cleethorpe­s High Street, situated on Osborne Street, the venue offers something that not many other places do in our area.

From curried goat to cous cous there really is a great range of flavours on show.

As well, many have spoken about the brilliant service offered by the café, making it a pleasant place to go too.

4. Riby Square café and takeaway

At the top Freeman Street lies an possibly surprising addition ddition to our list.

The café and takeaway are also providers ers on match days at Blunlundel­l Park so if you ou haven’t tried their ir food on Freeman n Street, you may y have sampled one e of their burgers at t half time.

Serving up p hearty meals like a full English or pie, ie, mash and peas. This is a great place to visit for simple, but well- ell-cooked food.

One of the more unusual dishes is a fry up in a Yorkshire pudding which will set you back just £4, which is a brilliant price for the size of the portion.

3. Truly Scrumptiou­s

On Cross Coates Road, this sandwich shop is truly one of the brightest shining jewels in Grimsby’s crown.

Filled with all sorts of meats, salads, bread and pies, you’ll be sure to find something gy you like.

O On top of fh that, they h h have some of f the best homemade puddings going with the likes of and Oreo slice and the classic lemon meringue tart up for grabs.

The also provide a similar service for breakfast items in the morning to let you create your own breakfast bap.

2. Hungry Hogs

This Grimsby brand is brilliant for anyone who is after a good lunch or just fancies a snack.

Based on Chelmsford Avenue, this business is brilli brilliant for those at Franklin College, being just a stone’s throw away from the site.

Possibly P the best b item on their t menu though has to be the Harvey Wrap. For those of you who w don’t know k what that is, imagine the McDonald’s McD breakfast wrap. wr

It’s like that, but so much more filling. This is definitely one to try if you haven’t already.

1. St. James’ fish and chips

Finishing our list is the ever impressive and ever reasonably priced St James’ chip shop on Brighowgat­e.

Here you’ll get the usual menu, but they also do a very special item, the fried chip butty.

When you don’t fancy going all the way out to Cleethorpe­s for your fish and chip p fix, this is the p place to g go.
