Training facility geared up to take on 60 new apprentice­s and nine jobs

Now it is looking to take in 60 new starters in 2022, while creating nine jobs - adding almost a third of the workforce.

A suite of standards will cover process pr operations, electrical, instrument­ation ins and mechanical operations engineerin­g and plate and pipe welding.

Jobs as trainers, assessors and commercial co-ordination roles have been created.

Mr McIntosh, who joined from HETA - an on-site provider - said: “We have evolved as a business in the past 12 months, during Covid.

This is a game-changer for the region, previously we have been an employer facilitato­r, and onsite we have had other academic institutio­ns. We have now made the bold decision to become an apprentice­ship provider ourselves.

“I would like to think we can play a strong role in solving the skills gap. We see all the work coming in decarbonis­ation and wider industry and we need to crack on now and get ahead - so we’re ready five or 10 years down the line.
