BAKE Off queen Nancy Birtwhistle has issued a warning to her fans after discovering that signed copies of her books are being offered for “obscene” prices.

Hull-born Nancy, who won the Great British Bake Off in 2014, told her followers on Twitter to beware of people cashing in by reselling her books at hugely inflated prices. Nancy, who now lives just across the water in Barton-upon-Humber, highlighted one instance of a seller offering her first book, Sizzle and Drizzle, with a cover price of £20, for a staggering £212.

She said in a tweet: “I self-published Sizzle and Drizzle and it’s only available from me. Sadly there are those that have bought a signed copy for £20 then go on to sell them for obscene prices.

“This is the latest one spotted today on Amazon – buyer beware. Genuine link: nancybirtwhistle.co.uk/mybooks/ ”

The baker, who has been ranked in the top ten most successful ever contestants to grace the famous GBBO tent, has published two more books since her debut cookery and household hints work, Sizzle and Drizzle. She wrote Clean & Green, a Sunday Times top ten best-seller providing hints and tips for a more eco-friendly home, and followed that up recently with Green Living Made Easy, a book she describes as a “massive lifestyle manual”.

“There’s stuff on growing your own food, cooking your own food, baking, upcycling and crafts, and some cleaning, and basically saving some money,” she said, ahead of its release. “It’s not something that’s been cobbled together in a few months, it’s a lifetime’s work for me, these are things I have been doing for many, many years and I’ve brought them into the 21 st century.”

Nancy, who has more than 100,000 followers on Instagram, makes regular TV appearances, with a number of slots on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, and has been on Kirstie Allsopp’s Christmas crafting shows. She stunned viewers of BBC Morning Live with her post-Christmas oven-cleaning hack – using grass to clean the metal racks – and offered tips on cleaning the kettle and granite worktops with cheap natural products instead of harsh and expensive chemicals.
