A GRIMSBY special effects artist is poised for success in the horror movie world.

Shane Knowles is providing scary prosthetic wounds and special effects for the horror industry. After an early career in hairdressing in Grimsby, Shane, 38, is deciding which country to pursue his passion for the movie world in.

He has impressed some of the biggest names in horror, including Robert Englund of Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street fame and Rob Zombie, director of The

Munsters. Shane can work in Belgium, the USA, UK or stay in Germany where he currently lives with his wife Krisi in Thuringen State. He set up his own online business there, supplying the renowned German stage theatre with special effects.

The husband and wife team have studied anatomy and skilfully recreated wounds based on their medical knowledge. Shane said: “As life began for me in Grimsby in 1984 I always knew I wanted something bigger in my life.

“Seeing my friends and family in and out of work or on benefits, I knew that one day I would leave England and try to pursue a life somewhere else.

“I had a few jobs that I never truly felt happy in and I wanted to own my own business. So I tried hairdressing and started a self employed self-taught hairdressing business just asking people if they wanted their hair cutting and they pay me what they think I deserve for the work I did.

“They loved it and always paid me a good amount of money. But It was still not what I really wanted. In 2017 I met my future wife online on a singing app and we created a bond together and finally we met in the beginning of summer 2017. After she spent three months in Grimsby with me I eventually got a passport and we came to Germany together.

“We then grew a few different businesses including making soft Teddy bears and then we started a photography business. But our love for horror, specifically the gory art in horror, such as special effects makeup and fake wounds, became something we wanted to do.

“We taught ourselves to make the materials and then studied human structure of muscles, bone and tendons and started making our own saleable products to sell to people like scar wax which we have on sale in our online shop. We started selling silicon prosthetic
