‘Station has been wanted and needed for years’

FOLLOWING our story about the new £3m Cleethorpes RNLI station starting to take shape, you had your say on our Facebook page.

-

Rod Whirity: Will the boat be able to launch directly into the estuary or will it still need the tractor to take it out? Because if it’s the latter I think this is a bit of a waste of money. Antony Hutton: Does anyone know how long in total the slipway is going to be??

Richard Williams: I know, let’s dig up the beach right before Armed Forces Weekend and The Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Tom Williamson: Let’s close the seafront off right before major events, summer holidays, bank holidays, let’s close 90 per cent of the streets around the town right before all this as well. Brilliant council ... not.

John Moore: Last time I was at Cleethorpes you needed to take a packed lunch to go for a paddle. Toby Lawrence: What a waste of money.

Cec Clark: So many immature responses. Let’s hope one day that you people or your siblings never need to call out the amazing people at sea. And furthermore, the air response ambulance and the police to help when you need them in times of urgency.

Ian Winn: We need more parking spaces.

Steven Jones: Amazing they are doing this. They can’t work just at night because of the tides, plus it would take twice as long. RNLI volunteers deserve this.

Ralph Whitehead: Well deserved, it’s been wanted and needed for years.

John Edwards: It’s about time after all these years. Congratulations Cleethorpes.

John French: Serious job putting piles in.

Jim Kirwan: I hope the high tide doesn’t take those cranes away! Kelly Wyatt: Get as much built now before big winter swells.

Paul Hynes: £3 million sounds a bit steep. How and who came up with that number?

Phil Gibbins: Gonna need a bigger boat.

Darren Chilton: Roads need sorting out first, they’re rubbish. Carl Cox: More money wasted. Martin Burke: Loads of piles to be sunk.
