Miami DJ crashes local pub and turns Jubilee party into ‘Ibiza rave’
‘SPACEBOY EQ’ BANGS OUT THE TUNES AND ‘GETS THE WHOLE PLACE BUZZING’
LOCALS at a tranquil Louth pub that had hay bales and flags out for the Platinum Jubilee got more than they expected when a DJ from Miami showed up unannounced.
Bosses at The Wheatsheaf had arranged for their usual local DJ to provide the entertainment over the bank holiday, but when Eric Quintin Edmond – stage name SPCBYEQ (“Spaceboy EQ”) – popped in for a pint and saw the music system set up, he asked if could have a go.
The place promptly went bonkers as he banged out the tunes.
His unplanned set in the garden of the 17th-century pub on Friday, June 3, proved so popular that he was invited back the next night to do it all again, reports The Daily Star.

we thought we’d see what was going on at The Wheatsheaf,” said EQ, who has done more than 800 shows and toured America and the Bahamas.
He said: “When I saw John the DJ and his equipment in the garden, I just asked him if he was OK if I gave it a go, and he was.
“It’s the sort of thing we do all the time back home.”
The Wheatsheaf – which dates from about 1625 – is one of the oldest buildings in Louth, sitting in the shadow of St James’ Church, which is famous for having one of the country’s tallest spires.
The pub doesn’t have a big telly, a jukebox or even a fruit machine – and it’s usually rammed with realale drinkers.
However, EQ’s set went down a storm, according to landlady EmmaJayne French.
“John and his sons had been playing music in the garden earlier, but there was just some quiet background music on when Eric walked in,” said Emma, who runs the pub with husband Barney and mum Joy.
She said: “Once Eric started, it got the whole place buzzing.
“It was like an Ibiza summer at The Wheatsheaf. Locals who’d already been out but had gone home heard what was going on and came back out.”
John has already offered to lend EQ his equipment should he want to make a return visit.
The impromptu rave included tunes by the likes of Earth Wind & Fire, James Hype (who recently did a show with EQ), Yung Bae and Brockhampton.
EQ – who ended the set wearing a Prince Harry mask – had known little about the Jubilee before he’d arrived in the UK from Florida.
