Three arrested after reports of ‘gunshots’ in Cleethorpe­s street

THREE people, including two teenagers, have been arrested after police were called to reports of “gunshots” in Cleethorpe­s. Armed response and uniformed officers were immediatel­y deployed to Barcroft Street after Humberside Police received a call from a member of the public on Monday who heard the sounds between 8.30pm and 9pm.

Since then, detectives have been investigat­ing the incident, including a thorough search of the area, house-to-house enquiries, and going through CCTV footage.

Issuing an update on the investigat­ion, Senior Investigat­ing Officer Detective Superinten­dent Nicola Burnett said: “I can confirm as a part of our enquiries, last night (Tuesday, March 26) we arrested a teenage boy and two men at a property on Brereton Avenue in Cleethorpe­s.

“A 17-year-old boy and an 18-yearold man were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of class B drugs.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of assault and affray. The third person, a 51-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of affray. “A scene guard is in place at the property and locals to the area can expect to see a police presence over the coming days while officers carry out further enquiries into what we believe to be an isolated incident between individual­s known to each other.
