‘True gentleman’ Ludo who has been in and out of care is looking for a forever home

BEAUTIFUL CROSSBREED HAS FACED A NUMBER OF SETBACKS

A DOG described as “a true gentleman” is looking for his forever home after living a life of grief “coupled with resilience and unwavering hope”.

Ludo, a beautiful crossbreed, has captured the hearts of everyone at Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

He has been in and out of the centre through no fault of his own since first arriving in 2016, aged just one. Now entering his golden years, Jerry Green Dog Rescue is hoping to find somewhere for Ludo to live his life in peace.

The dog rescue has said that Ludo’s black coat poses an issue with potential adoption prospects. A 2002 study in the Journal of Applied Animal Science revealed that animals with black coats have lower adoption rates than other pets. This an issue that Jerry Green Dog Rescue has seen since beginning its operation in 1961.

Since arriving in 2016, Ludo has faced a number of setbacks. After finding a home, he was returned just three years later.

He was then adopted to a wonderful home but had to be returned in January 2024 when his owner sadly passed away.

Every time that Ludo thinks that he has found his forever family, he has been forced to be returned, but shown his resilience throughout the grief.

“Ludo is a true gentleman looking for a sofa to call his own,” said Kim Charlton, dog welfare assistant at Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

“He has so much love to give and deserves to spend his golden years in a wonderful home.”

Still as enthusiastic as ever for life, his gentle nature at nine years old means that Jerry Green Dog Rescue has plenty of hope for the lovable pooch.

Described as a sensitive soul, Ludo adores human companionship and loves nothing more than curling up on the couch and going on strolls.

He even showed impeccable manners when walked by a 90-yearold member of his foster family. Despite being an older dog, Ludo still has his playful side and does zoomies around the garden, but can get worried when left alone. Because of this, the rescue believes that he would benefit from owners who are at home most of the day, and because of his size, be best suited at a home with children over 11.

If anyone believes that they can give Ludo the stable home and attention he deserves, contact Jerry Green Dog Rescue on 01652 653343 or email nlincs@jerrygreendogs.org. uk
