Plans by Calderdale and Greater Huddersfie­ld’s NHS Clinical Commission­ing Groups to delay holding a consultati­on on proposals to downgrade A&E services has been welcomed by Labour. The CCGs say the decision to hold off on consultati­on means more time can be spent developing care closer to home and understand­ing the impacts will have on our hospital services.

Leader of the Labour group on Calderdale Council, Coun Tim Swift has welcomed the move.

He said: “We are pleased that Calderdale CCG have now accepted our argument.

“Many people were concerned that the Trust plans were a done deal.

“The fact that the CCG has agreed to significan­tly change the planned timetable is a real victory for the local community.
