Plans by Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield’s NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups to delay holding a consultation on proposals to downgrade A&E services has been welcomed by Labour. The CCGs say the decision to hold off on consultation means more time can be spent developing care closer to home and understanding the impacts will have on our hospital services.
Leader of the Labour group on Calderdale Council, Coun Tim Swift has welcomed the move.
He said: “We are pleased that Calderdale CCG have now accepted our argument.
“Many people were concerned that the Trust plans were a done deal.
“The fact that the CCG has agreed to significantly change the planned timetable is a real victory for the local community.
