Man to be sentenced for three burglaries
A 38-year-old man has admitted to committing three burglaries in the Hebden Bridge area on August 22 and 26.
James Harrison, of no fixed abode, stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods from three properties in the town including a laptop computer, jewellery, a phone, a bottle of whiskey and three bottles of beer.
Prosecutor Lisa Beadle said that he broke into a property at Coiners Wharf Mytholmroyd, while the 79-year-old woman who lived at the property was in the next room.
Harrison was seen by a number of witnesses following the daytime thefts, and his fingerprints were found on the stolen items.
He tested positive for opiates and cocaine upon arrest and gave no comment to police when asked about the thefts.
Chair of Magistrates Sam Shibil told Harrison: “Our power won’t be enough to punish you. You have committed serious offences and you will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court.” Harrison was remanded in custody and will appear for sentencing at Bradford Crown Court on September 25.
