Join Alice’s Run - or walk the route - to help Epilepsy Action

Alice’s Run, the multi-terrain challenge in aid of Epilepsy Action, takes place this Sunday, August 31, and you can enter on the day.

The 10k run will wind through the Calder Valley to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action, which supports people living with epilepsy across the UK.

Now in its ninth year, the race was set up to celebrate the life of Leeds Metropolitan University student, Alice Redmond.

Alice, from Hebden Bridge, died following a tragic accident in August 2005.

She worked at Epilepsy Action during her student placement year, helping to organise fundraising events and raise awareness of epilepsy.

The race will start at 10.30am at Brearley Fields in Mytholmroyd and will finish at Calder High School. Set in the Calder Valley countryside, runners and walkers will follow a circular route around Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. The event is suitable for all, from serious runners to those looking for a countryside walk. There will be Tshirts and refreshments for all finishers, and prizes for first, second and third (male and fe- male), as well as veterans.

There will also be a kilometre children’s fun run with all finishers receiving a medal. This additional race will be held at 10.45am, at Calder High School field.

Liv and Steve Redmond, Alice’s parents, said: “We are pleased and proud that Alice’s run continues to go from strength to strength as a tribute to Alice. Epilepsy Action was a very special charity in Alice’s life.

“We hope that this year’s event will once again be a huge success and provide and excellent day out for runners, walkers and children, as well as friends and family meeting up to remember Alice.”

Alice’s Run costs £14 or £12 for runners who are part of a UK Athletics affiliated running club.
