Problems with recruitment

The large numbers of men volunteering locally led to a shortage of accommodation for them. As explained last week the army had extensive powers to commandeer just about anything they needed and these included premises such as St Paul’s School, King Cross, and the Victoria Theatre. Other places mentioned are King Cross Constitutional Club and Great Albion Street School.
