Scanner memories
Youngsters at the International Islamic Mission in Gibbet Street, Halifax, gave some of their pocket money and raised £100 for the Evening Courier Bodyscanner Appeal to buy a scanner for the Royal Halifax Infirmary in 1989. The £500,000 appeal target was reached in just 260 days and the final total of £667,371 was enough not only to buy the machine but to run it for two years.
