Aspin expects to keep players

- By Tom Scargill

Neil Aspin has reiterated he doesn’t expect any more arrivals or departures at FC Halifax Town before the end of the transfer window. The Shaymen play Bristol Rovers tomorrow (3.0) in their final game before the transfer window shuts at 11pm on Monday

Town have held on to their other most prized assets after top-scorer Lee Gregory moved to Millwall over the summer.

The likes of Marc Roberts and Matt Pearson have been the subject of transfer speculation but the Town boss is confident his squad will remain intact.

He said: “I’m not expecting anything to happen but I’m aware there is a chance something can.

“I don’t put a value on players’ heads.

“It’s like with any player, if you get a bid then it’s considered. But it’s all speculation.

“We’ll never sell anybody on the cheap because we’re in a position where we don’t need to do that.

“At the moment there is nothing happening and I expect to go into next week with the same group of players available.”

Town’s 3-2 victory over Lincoln on Monday set a new club record of five wins from their first five games of the season.

That surpassed their previous best of four wins from five in Aspin’s first season in 2009.

Only Halifax, Morecambe, Chelsea, Tottenham, Swansea and Manchester City now have 100 per cent records in the top five divisions of English football.
