Ploughcroft to light up the sky

- By Tom Scargill

For one night only, Ploughcroft Eco-Roof will be bringing the famous Northern Lights to Beacon Hill in Halifax. The unique event, which begins at 9pm on May 1, is to celebrate the Brighouse-based eco specialist saving the region £1m in energy bills, as a result of its products, EcoRoof and Eco-Wall, which were launched in 2014.

Working closely with local lighting expert James Bawn, who has previously been responsible for projects such as Yorkshire’s Festival of Light, Ploughcroft will illuminate the sky green with a powerful beam of light, and bring a touch of Iceland to the local area.

The spectacle, which is so bright it required clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), will be visible from most of Halifax and Kirklees.

All residents are welcome to watch the event from their home, garden or even their local pub and the energy effi- ciency specialist is hoping the event will help to raise awareness into the importance of energy saving home improvements.

Chris Hopkins, managing director at Ploughcroft Ecoroof, said: “We are extremely proud that we have been able to help homeowners across West Yorkshire make such dramatic energy savings, and we wanted to mark the occasion with a truly impressive spectacle.

“We are hoping that this exciting event will send out a positive ‘green’ message to the local community.”
