Quinn looking to end fine season on a high

-

Brighouse Town manager Paul Quinn is hoping to end the 2014-15 Evo-Stik NPL Division One North season with an emphatic home win over Northwich Victoria tomorrow (3.00).

Town are unbeaten in six games which has taken them to 13th place in their first season of semi-professional football.

Their latest game last weekend resulted in a 0- 0 draw at Prescot Cables in a typically low key end of season encounter.

Both sides had chances to win the game while Quinn was disappointed not to see two penalty decisions go his side’s way

He was, however, pleased to stretch the unbeaten run to six games and to achieve a 50 points haul in their first season.

“Leon Henry did their player for pace and was brought down. It was a clear penalty,” said Quinn, who spoke with the referee over it at half time.

“Two of their players said to me afterwards that the second half claim when Tyrone Gay was brought down was a stonewall penalty.”

“They had the better of the second half but couldn’t shoot so perhaps a draw was a fair result.”

Quinn has revealed there will be no starting place forfor Israel Johnson, the young- ster signed from Huddersfield Town’s Academy, who turned an ankle back in training in mid-March when set for his debut.

“We have had a word with the lad and advised he is better sitting out this season and coming back all guns blazing for pre-season training,” said Quinn.

One player who will be playing is striker Ernest Boafo who the manager was delighted to announce has agreed a contract to stay with the club until May 2016.

“We were also having oneon-one chats with all the players at training in midweek ahead of chasing down over at least half-a-dozen targets we have pinpointed,” added Quinn.

“I am confident we can keep the bulk of the squad together and then blend in the new additions to take us further forward next season.

“We also have some good players coming through the development ranks and so the future is bright.

“The West Riding County FA Youth side took four players, namely Isaac Baldwin, Kurt Harris, Tim Wallace and George Oakley last Saturday for their cup semi-final against Cheshire, which they won 2-1, and so those boys are now in another final.

“Isaac, Kurt and Tim would have definitely been in contention for a place at Prescot Cables and will come into the reckoning for this Saturday.
