Greenwood boosted by fresh talent

four games.

“We had a few guys missing last weekend and, honestly, I thought we might struggle over there because they’re not going to lose many games at home,” said Greenwood.

“They’d got Aussies and Fijians in that side and it looked like they’d roped in a couple of semi pro lads too.

“Our effort was certainly there, and we’ve come a long way in the last few weeks, and it looked like we might do it.

“But they got us on the last play of the game with a horrible little try; a kick from the hooker that bobbled all over the place on the goalline.

“We should have Freddy and Mervill in this weekend though, and maybe Ambler and Garrod too, and those are the kind of players that will make a difference to us in games like that.”

Egremont will arrive at Chevinedge level on points with Siddal, with Greenwood looking for a 50/50 record ahead of a weekend off.

“We’ve got to get two points,” he said.

“They are level with us and a win this weekend gives us three from six.

“Going into the weekend off with that record rather than two from six would give us a different vibe.

“It’s early days, but it’s the difference between being comfortably in mid table or being down there on the edge of the relegation scrap.”
