A middle-age woman had a heart attack and was taken to hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near death experience. Seeing God she asked, ‘Is my time up?’

God answered, ‘No, you have another 40 years, 2 months and 8 days.’ On her recovery, the woman decided to have a facelift, liposuction and a tummy tuck. She figured that because she had so much more time to live, she might as well make the most of it. She had her hair styled and coloured as well as other conditioning.

Not long after, she was crossing the road and was hit by a car and died. Arriving in front of God, she demanded, ‘I thought you said I had another 40 years; why didn’t you pull me from the path of the car?’ God replied, ‘I didn’t recognise you.’ We need to be satisfied with who we are. We can’t change ourselves into something we’re not. God knows all about us and he loves us just as we are. What makes us so special is our uniqueness.

DNA molecules can unite in an infinite number of ways. The number is 10 to the power 2400 million. That number is the likelihood of ever finding somebody exactly like you. When God made you he broke the mould. There never has been and there never will be anybody exactly like you. God hasn’t made anyone quite like you. That being the case he loves you and cares for you. He paid the price for you on the cross just as you are.

By faith in the living Christ – the risen Lord, we are offered the power that will lift us above the levels of doubt, darkness and despair. He cares for you because you are special in his sight.
