St Matthew’s bell ringers have had a very busy month. They have been ringing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day, the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo and the Magna Carta. The ringers practice on a Tuesday evening at St Matthew’s Church and would welcome anyone interested in learning how to ring. For further information please contact Margaret Perrott on 01422 202575. A friend of Margaret’s, Arthur, was one of the original bell ringers who rang for VE Day in 1945, when he was 13 years old. He also rang to celebrate the 70th anniversary. Heywood United Reform Church held another successful restoring the graveyard day. The Northowram Historical Society are interested in the results discovered by the graveyard gang’s efforts. The next graveyard day will be on Saturday, July 4 at 10am. The members would like to thank the people who served
