Halifax ready for colour

- By Abigail Kellett

Overgate Hospice is preparing itself for it’s second ever 5k colour run which is taking place on Saturday July 11 at 11am. Taking place in Savile Park, nearly 900 people have signed up to Calderdale’s brightest run and with 500 more signed up than last year it’s set to be bigger and better than ever.

White clothing is a must for all runners as they will pass through sponsored colour stations where they will be doused with several colours of powdered paint.

Participants are free to complete the distance as they wish, be it running, walking or skipping and charity mascot Harold the Hospice hair will be supporting people and getting messy along the way.

Rebecca Gill, Events Fundraiser said: “We are thrilled to have so many of you signed up already and cannot wait to see you on the day for what promises to be the most colourful day Halifax has ever seen!

“We are really excited for this year’s event and cannot thank our volunteers and our sponsor, Benjamin Roberts Solictors, enough for their support.”

The run will be followed by a Colour Party hosted by Bazz from Bazzmatazz Dance Studio in Halifax and song requests for the party can be requested on social media using the hashtag #colourrunplaylist If you would like to register you can do so at colourrun. overgatehospice.org.uk or call the fundraising team on 01422387121 today
