High flying Heath prepare for top of the table showdown with Beverley

-

HEATH TRAVEL east for the second time this season for a second v third Yorkshire One showdown at Beverley, knowing a win should move them into second spot.

Heath, who came away from Goole with a five point victory earlier in the season, sit level with their hosts with five wins out of six, but trail by virtue of Beverley having two more try scoring bonus points.

Ezra Hinchliffe, who has formed a formidable defensive partnership with fellow centre, Willie Tufui, returns to the side.

Ed Cartwright, linking from fullback, has shown several sides a clean pair of heels recently, although winger Si Brown, who is now on the hunt for his 100th first team try, will be absent.

“Beverley are one of the strongest sides in the division,” said coach Dave Harrison.

“But like all good sides they become ordinary if kept under pressure, so the energy we bring in defence will be vital.

“It’s then about playing in the right areas and keeping our composure at key times.”

Heath’s seconds put in a determined performance last week, but came away losers from their encounter with a very strong Yarnbury side.

This Saturday they’re away again, this time to Ripon.

OLD BRODLEIANS entertain Keighley at Woodhead but will be hit hard by absentees, with no fewer than 10 regular players missing.

The Hipperholme club is proud that Christian and Dominic Georgiou will be in the Cyprus squad for their fixture with Croatia on Saturday but many of the forward pack will be away, attending Alex Dawson’s wedding on the day.

The Hipperholme club however will take this as an opportunity to blood several second teamers who will be able to step up.

The coaching team have a great deal of confidence that the young players drafted into the side such as James Heap, Elliot Hoyle, Joe Sealey and Olly Anderson can take their chances.
