Time to unite behind Remain

-

Ben Carter, Halifax

THE Lib Dems have said they would do anything to stop Brexit.

If they are serious they need to support Jeremy Corbyn as the Interim Prime Minister in a government of national emergency and stand down from putting forward a candidate in Halifax constituency to unite behind Remain. Labour and the Lib Dems have common purpose to stop Brexit, but it doesn’t just stop there. By uniting to smash capitalism we can eliminate inequality and prevent climate change by closing down dirty manufacturing and going back to an agriculture based green economy where every garden can be turned into an allotment and everybody made to grow their own food. A government of national emergency can suspend elections and impose curfews until the crisis is judged to be over, and we can work together to put laws in place to imprison Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage for trying to take us out with No Deal. Jeremy Corbyn has the support of the Scottish Nationalists, the Greens and Plaid Cymru. It only needs the Lib Dems to come on board and install Jeremy as Interim Prime Minister or be forever known as the party that failed to prevent Brexit.

Just want to say thank you for your article from Hull, Hell and Halifax. I’ve known the expression for many years and I’m delighted to now know the origins of it.

I’m not a Yorkshire man but have now had the pleasure of living in Halifax for nearly 20 years and no way can it be bracketed with hell!

TRANSPORT

Jim Salmon

I would like to say a big thanks to the men resurfacing the road between Bowling Green School, Stainland and Outlane for completing two days earlier than planned.

Once again we have two buses an hour. No thanks to those in charge of the bus service during this period. Phone calls to Metro/First bus/local council fell on deaf ears.

A visit to the office in Halifax bus station was a waste of time. I was told they had no men, no buses and yet the 503, 576,521 and 512 bus operate virtually nose to tail.
