Rishworthians name strong side ahead of knock-out clash with Guisborough

-

RISHWORTHIANS, WHO host Guisborough in the Yorkshire Silver Trophy, have named a strong side aiming to turn their winning run into five.

There are doubts though that the game will take place as the visitors may decline to travel the long distance because of the Rugby World Cup final.

The Copley men are nevertheless going ahead with preparations and hope to include Ben Waud and Fraser Swarbrooke, who were both unavailable last week.

James McHugh is unavailable and hooker Toby Muscat-Baron

is missing to recover from injury. Young front row player James Robbins is named on the bench.

Director of Rugby Jon Bake is delighted with the way his side has been playing and was full of praise for last week’s win at Northallerton.

“It is always a difficult place to go. Our defence was excellent, so this was a particularly good win. I don’t think the players really realised what a good win it was,” he said.

If the game does not go ahead, the Development team will take centre stage in a local derby with Heath II.

ON SUNDAY afternoon, Old Brodleians Ladies RUFC travelled to Skipton to play a development game against the Skipton Roses RUFC.

With both sides fielding players who were experiencing their first taste of competitive rugby the emphasis was on developing the basics of the game and allowing the ladies to enjoy the game.

With over 50 spectators attending, they were treated to a try-laden game with neither side taking a backward step in the tackle and ruck area and meeting each other head on.

With such exciting rugby on show, it can only bode well for the growth of the ladies game and, hopefully, increase the number of ladies taking part in the future.
